Flickr Contact Limits - 3000 is still too many!

Comments

You know, I used to have the old skool account and I resisted changing over until they sent that email that said that we were being forced to by a certain date. Ok fine, so I switched. Then I saw all the controversy on some of the boards of people complaining about it! What is the problem, people! Like you said, things change, and I don't know why people can't be more flexible about it.

And 3000 contact limit??? Jeez... that is just ridiculous. I don't do the auto-reciprocal add as a contact either. That is just plain silly. I've got about 150 contacts right now, but some of them are infrequent posters. I too have enough trouble keeping up with them all as it is!
[this is good]
Good tip for cleaning up the contacts Martin. My only problem with opening a Yahoo account is a lack of useable user names.
Yeah, ditto the lack of usable names. One of the benefits to signing up early with flickr was that I could pick a username that I wanted. Now I'll have to be something like flickr.com/photos/fi30fjdp20fjjkewucxysoporw which is kind of a bummer if I ever wanted to, say, actually use the url.

I'm with you on the contacts thing, though.
I'm a old skooler and though I admit I don't care for Yahoo, I have had a personal account with them since they started giving them out, I agree that it's nothing to get angry about. I do feel that Yahoo doesn't really have the insight to make flickr better as someone who started the service judging by how Yahoo has looked and interacted over the years, but flickr is a good service as it is. As long as Yaoo doesn't change what it already has I'll be happy and continue to pay for a account. As far as merging the accounts, I will also admit I don't want any ads or information about yahoo and what they are doing associated with an account I rarely got info from in the first place. But to solve that I just created a bogus Yahoo account and figure I'll never even look at it.
i'm with you on not doing the blind reciprocation. that really bothers me. but it also bothers me that i had to merge my account. i'm not whining about it publicly, but i still think it's bullshit.
I hope Yahoo dont require us to download photo sharing software like it did to Yahoo Photo users. i'm ok with everything else in Flickr though.
I agree with you, Martin (and everyone else who weighed in). I don't even know 3000 people! I have a staff of 13 and some days it takes everything I've got just to remember their names.
